Description
In 1923, scientists named a dinosaur Oviraptor philoceratops, meaning egg eater, after discovering it lying on a nest they initially believed contained Protoceratops eggs. Later, a similar egg was found holding an almost complete Oviraptor embryo skeleton. It is now understood that these Oviraptors were likely guarding and nurturing their own eggs rather than stealing others’ nests. The egg statue measures 6 inches by 2 inches, crafted from compound stone with an aged white finish, and weighs about 2 pounds.
