Description
This wall hanging illustrates a gathering of ancient Greek citizens in the Athenian procession celebrating the ritual to their patron goddess, Athena. It is part of the sacred ceremony of presenting the peplos cloak for the deity statue at the center of the Parthenon in Athens.
Reproduced after an original wall plaque in the Louvre Museum dated 445 to 438 BC. The scene shows the climactic scene of the entire festival for Athena.
Reproduction is made to look aged from resin, ready to hang, measures 27.5 in L x 15 in H x 2.25 in D. Weighs approx. 20 lbs. PN T87980
